One mountain, three ways to reach it: you are driven, you drive, or you stay until dark. Pick the camp first — inside it the tours differ by two hours and thirty euros, not by what you see.
Teide is 3 715 m and the highest point in Spain, and almost nobody who books a Teide tour stands on it. They stand on the floor of Las Cañadas — a caldera 16 by 11 kilometres, with walls 500 m above the road and the floor itself a little over two thousand metres. That floor is what the photographs show: pumice fields, lava monoliths and a cone that looks close enough to walk to. Every tour on this page reaches it. The lift and the last 160 m to the crater are separate purchases, and the section below the table says exactly what they cost.
More than half of everything sold as a Teide tour leaves in the afternoon and comes back in the dark — 54 of 102. If you pictured a window seat at midday, that is camp one, and it is the smallest of the three.
The default way up. A minivan or a coach takes the TF-21 from the south through Vilaflor, or from the north through La Orotava, and puts you on the caldera floor for the middle of the day. Four hours buys the park; seven or eight add Icod and Garachico on the way back down. Nobody in the vehicle has to watch the road, and on a two-thousand-metre climb with a hundred bends that is most of what you are paying for.
Anyone who wants to look rather than steer: families, first visits, anyone with a licence they would rather not show at a desk, and anyone who arrived yesterday and does not want to drive 57,5 km of mountain road on day two. It is also the only camp where the cable-car ticket can be inside the price — one product does it, and it is card two below.

You are outside the whole time, which is the point and also the catch — there is no shade at 2 000 m and no window between you and the dust.
People for whom the driving is the day. A car licence is checked at the desk and the guide rides in front, so nobody goes anywhere alone — the national park does not allow it. The price looks wild until you read the basis: a quad is per person, a buggy is per machine for two, and the same three hours can therefore cost €57 or €195 depending on which you booked.

More than half of everything sold as a Teide tour leaves in the afternoon and comes back in the dark: sunset from above the cloud sheet, then telescopes, dinner or a picnic while the sky fills in. The park was the first World Heritage site certified a Starlight Tourist Destination, in January 2014, and the trade in evening tours grew out of that.
Anyone who has already had the daytime floor, and anyone who came for the sky rather than the rock. It is also the answer when calima greys the view: dust ruins a photograph of the caldera and does very little to a telescope. Take the warm layer seriously — it is 7 to 14 °C colder up there before wind, and the evening versions sit still in it for hours.

Eight minutes from 2 356 m to 3 555 m. €42 adult return, €21 child, €23,50 one way — bought separately from almost every tour on this page. Above the top station you are still 160 m below the summit: the last stretch, the Telesforo Bravo path, needs its own permit, €15 per person since 19 January 2026, booked through Tenerife ON. And in wind the cable car closes without warning.
So the honest way to plan is upside down: book the tour for the caldera floor, which no weather can cancel, and treat everything above 2 356 m as a bonus.

Mount Teide Tour with Cable Car Ticket & Transfer says in its own terms that the tour still runs and the ticket price comes back. A ticket you bought at the station is your own risk. Either way, pick a tour whose route works on the caldera floor at 2 000 m, so the lift is a bonus rather than the plan.
A jacket even in July and a hat. Most of the heat you lose at 3 555 m goes out of your head, and the evening tours — the biggest camp on this page — sit still in it for hours.
Look at the horizon from your balcony before you leave. If La Gomera has vanished, move the park to another day and take a boat — the water does not care about dust. Telescopes mind it far less than cameras do.
Take the earliest pickup and do not schedule anything after the tour. Or stay in the north for a night: from Puerto de la Cruz the climb is 31 km and starts in laurel forest.
Las Cañadas is the reason the tours exist. A caldera sixteen kilometres long and eleven wide, its floor a little over two thousand metres above the sea and its walls standing five hundred metres above the road that crosses it. Everything the coach stops for is on that floor: the eroded monoliths at Roques de García, the flat plain of Llano de Ucanca, the black and ochre pumice at Minas de San José. The cone rises another 1 700 m above the floor, and the survey figure for its top — 3 715 m by IGN and Grafcan — is three metres lower than the 3 718 on the signs, which is the trigonometric measurement of 1920 that nobody has repainted.
Four roads reach the floor. From the north the TF-21 climbs 31 km through La Orotava and the pines; from La Laguna the TF-24 runs 30 km along the ridge with both coasts in view; from the west the TF-38 is only 8,3 km from Chío. From the south — where almost every hotel is — the TF-21 climbs 57,5 km from Granadilla through Vilaflor, at 1 400 m the highest village in the Canaries. That is why the southern tours start early, why they budget an hour each way from the resorts, and why the four-hour park-only products from the south are honest about what four hours buys.
The ring road around the island is still not closed. The El Tanque to Santiago del Teide section — 11,3 km, half of it in tunnels, 5,1 km of them under Erjos — was approved in September 2025 and is under construction now. Until it opens, the west of the island is reached on the old road, and any tour that pairs Teide with Masca or Los Gigantes drives it. It is the single biggest reason those combined days run eight hours rather than six.
