THE VERDICT

The most reviewed machine tour on the island and deservedly so — four hours, about ninety kilometres, pickup included, ★4.8 from 1 659. One line decides whether you can book it at all: the driver must be 25, with a category B licence held for two years. That is stricter than anything else we list, and it is checked at the desk.

IN DEPTH

The detail behind the verdict

Read the route description and the word missing from it is off-road. This tour runs entirely on asphalt, and the operator says why: the level of environmental protection over everything it crosses. So the adventure is the landscape, not the terrain — you climb from the resorts through Arona and La Escalona, stop in Vilaflor at 1 400 m, and come out at Boca Tauce on the caldera floor with the cone in front of you. What people underestimate is the cold.

You are in open air at speed above 2 000 m, and the jacket, gloves and glasses are supplements rather than kit — pay for them or bring your own. One correction to the listing: it calls Teide the highest mountain in Spain at 3,760 metres. The height is right in spirit and wrong in fact — 3 715 m surveyed, and 3 718 m in the old trigonometric figure the operators keep copying.

Questions about this tour

Is the Quad Adventure Tour in Teide National Park worth it?

At €80 for four hours with pickup, yes — ★4.8 from 1 659 is the largest body of feedback on any machine tour here. The caveat is the age rule, not the product.

What is the minimum age to drive?

Twenty-five, with a category B licence held for at least two years. The operator states it plainly and checks at the meeting point — it is the strictest rule on any tour we list, and the usual reason a booking fails on the day.

Can children come?

From seven years old, as passengers only, and under-18s must be accompanied by an adult. There is also a 160 kg limit on the combined weight of the people on one quad.

Is it off-road?

No, and the operator says so in the listing: the route is entirely on asphalt because of the environmental protection over the areas it crosses. If you booked a quad expecting dirt, book something on another island.

How cold does it get?

Cold enough to matter. You are in open air at speed above 2 000 m, and the jacket, gloves and glasses are supplements rather than included kit. Bring your own or budget for theirs.

Where does it pick up?

Playa de las Américas, Costa Adeje, Los Cristianos and Golf del Sur — four points along the south coast, included in the price.

Is food included?

No. The stop in Vilaflor is the one place on the route with a café, and the operator builds free time in for exactly that.

Is Teide really 3,760 metres, as the listing says?

No. The surveyed height is 3 715 m; the figure of 3 718 m comes from a trigonometric measurement made in 1920 and still repeated everywhere. Neither is 3,760.

What if I cannot drive — can I still go?

Yes, as a passenger on a double quad, provided your driver meets the age and licence rule. That is also the cheaper way to book it for two.

Can I cancel?

Free cancellation up to 24 hours before the start time, per the listing checked on 14 September 2026. Weather on the mountain is the usual reason people move a date.
