Put the two €80 quad tours side by side and the northern one wins on paper. Drivers here start at eighteen; in the south the desk turns you away under twenty-five with a two-year licence. Gloves and a raincoat come with the machine in winter or wet weather rather than as supplements. A Canarian snack and a drink are in the price, as are the photographs and video, which the southern operator charges for. And this one has what the south physically cannot offer: thirty minutes of genuine dirt, on a circuit with three difficulty levels, because the north has ground that is not inside a national park.
The trade is the mountain. Read the listing carefully and it is two tours under one page. Route one goes up to Corral del Niño at 2 300 m for the view over the sea of clouds, and it is entirely on asphalt — no off-road at all, which the exclusions state plainly. Route two stays low, takes in Los Realejos and the last undeveloped beach on the island, spends half an hour on the dirt and finishes at the El Lance viewpoint at 800 m.
You cannot have both. One muddle worth knowing: the Teide route is headed "morning schedule" and then lists departures at 09:00 and 17:30, and the recurring request in the feedback is for clearer information about sunset timing. Confirm which one you are on.
