THE VERDICT

This is the €55 answer to the €40 stargazing coach, and the fifteen euros buy exactly the things that one gets complained about: a real restaurant at 2 130 m instead of a roadside stop, wine with dinner, and warm coats on request rather than on the not-included list. ★4.5 against ★4.2, value 4.4 against 3.9.

IN DEPTH

The detail behind the verdict

Put the two evenings side by side and the case makes itself. The cheaper tour parks you at a roadside restaurant, sells the meal as an extra, and states plainly that jackets and blankets are not provided at 2 000 m after dark. This one goes to Restaurante 7 Cañadas inside the park at 2 130 m, includes three courses with bread, water and wine, hands out a glass of cava at sunset and lends coats to anyone who asks.

The guides are Starlight-certified, the photographs and a sunset time-lapse come free afterwards, and the difference in rating is not subtle. What you are still buying is a coach evening. The published timeline gives two and a quarter hours in the vehicle each way against three and a half hours on the ground, and there are twenty-nine drop-off points on the way home — more than the cheaper tour has. Self-drive options exist, with or without the dinner, and they remove that half of the night entirely.

The recurring complaint is the food: people call the dinner basic, and at these numbers that is the honest expectation to set — it is a set menu at altitude, not a restaurant you would drive up for. One number to correct: the description puts Teide at 3,718 m. That is the trigonometric figure from 1920; the surveyed height is 3 715 m.

Questions about this tour

Is the Night Skies dinner and stargazing tour worth it?

Against its own competition, yes. ★4.5 from 2 480 with value at 4.4, where the €40 coach tour sits at ★4.2 and 3.9. The extra fifteen euros pay for a proper restaurant, wine and a coat if you need one.

How is it different from the cheaper stargazing tour?

Three things. The dinner is included rather than optional and happens in a restaurant inside the park at 2 130 m; wine comes with it; and coats are lent on request, where the cheaper listing puts jackets and blankets on the not-included list.

Is the food any good?

It is the one recurring complaint. Guests call the dinner basic, and the summary of recent reviews says the same. Three courses with wine at 2 130 m is convenience and warmth rather than cooking.

How much of the evening is in the coach?

Two and a quarter hours each way on the published timeline, against three and a half hours at the restaurant and under the sky. There are twenty-nine drop-off points on the way home.

Can I drive myself?

Yes, and it is the fix for the paragraph above. Self-drive options exist both with and without the dinner; you meet the guides at the restaurant.

What will I see?

Planets, stars and galaxies through the telescopes, with the constellations traced by green laser. The guides are certified by the Starlight Foundation, which is the accreditation that means something in this category.

When do I find out my pickup time?

By WhatsApp the day before, or on Tuesday morning for Tuesday departures. The operator asks you to contact them if the message does not arrive, which is worth acting on rather than assuming.

Is Teide really 3,718 metres?

That is the figure from a trigonometric survey in 1920, and it is still quoted widely — including here. The surveyed height is 3 715 m.

What should I wear?

Warm clothing and comfortable shoes. Coats are available on loan if you ask, which is the practical difference between this evening and a cold one.

Can I cancel?

Free cancellation up to 24 hours before, per the listing checked on 15 September 2026.
