THE VERDICT

The sticker says €195 and that is what stops most people reading further. It is the price of the buggy, not of a seat: two people pay €97 each, which puts it within a few euros of the quads — and the quads will not take a driver under 25. This one starts at 18. ★4.6 from 814, over three and a half hours.

IN DEPTH

The detail behind the verdict

Compare the two lines of what is included and the price difference stops looking like one. The quad at €80 per person gives you a helmet and insurance, then sells the jacket, the gloves and the glasses as supplements at the desk. This buggy includes the goggles, a warm garment if you need one, water, a snack and the fuel — at 2 200 m, in open air, that is not a list of nice-to-haves. What you are buying beyond the kit is a cabin and a roll cage instead of a saddle, a machine that seats up to four, and an age rule you can actually meet.

What you are not buying is off-road: every metre of this route is on made road, the same asphalt the quads use, because the park does not permit anything else. Two things surprise people on the day. There is a short driving test before you leave and a driver’s contract to sign — Spanish traffic law, not operator theatre — and closed shoes are enforced, so the sandals you drove to the meeting point in will not get you into the seat.

Questions about this tour

Is the Teide National Park buggy tour worth it?

At €195 it looks expensive and at €97 a head for two it is not. ★4.6 from 814 over three and a half hours, with fuel, goggles, water and a snack inside the price — which is more than the quads include for similar money per person.

Is the price per person or per buggy?

Per buggy, for up to two people. That is the single most misread line on the listing: €195 split two ways is €97 each, against €80 per person on the most-reviewed quad tour.

What is the minimum age to drive a buggy in Teide National Park?

Eighteen, with a full licence. Provisional and temporary licences are not accepted. That is seven years younger than the age rule on the biggest quad tour, and it is the reason younger groups end up in buggies.

Can children come?

As passengers, yes. A two-seater takes anyone from 120 cm; a four-seater takes children from three years old. Below 120 cm there is no seat on the smaller machines.

Do I need experience?

No, but you do need to pass a short driving test before the convoy leaves, and to sign a driver’s contract. Both are required under Spanish traffic law rather than by the operator, and both take a few minutes.

Is it off-road?

No. The route runs on made road for its whole length — the national park does not permit driving off it. A buggy here is a way of seeing the park in open air, not a way of crossing rough ground.

What should I wear?

Closed shoes, without exception — sandals and flip-flops are refused at the meeting point. Layers on top of that: the photo stops are at around 2 200 m and the air up there is nothing like the coast.

Is food included?

Water and a snack are, which is unusual in this category. A full meal is not, and three and a half hours does not need one.

Where does it pick up?

Costa Adeje, Playa de las Américas, Los Cristianos and Golf del Sur. Pickup outside those four areas is not included, so a stay in the north makes this an awkward booking.

Can I cancel?

Free cancellation up to 24 hours before the start, per the listing checked on 14 September 2026. Wind on the upper road is the usual reason a date gets moved.
