Private vehicles, bicycles and walkers are barred from the TF-445 to Punta de Teno every day of the week. Access is by the 369 bus from Buenavista del Norte — about twenty minutes, €1 each way — by taxi, by boat from Los Gigantes, or on a tour with a permit. A hire car gets you to Buenavista and no further, which is where a lot of carefully planned days end.

The access window moves with the calendar: 10:00 to 19:00 from 1 October to 20 June, and 08:00 to 20:00 from 21 June to 30 September. Outside those hours the road is closed to everyone. Yes — the village sits inside the Parque Rural de Teno, and most tours treat the two as one day. The gorge walk down from Masca is booked separately and is not a sightseeing product.
