THE VERDICT

★4.4 from 656 with value at 4.2 — the lowest value score of any quad we have reviewed here, and the listing itself explains why. The €90 covers a quad for two, about €45 each, and then a mandatory €30 agreement is charged when you arrive.

IN DEPTH

The detail behind the verdict

Read the extras block before anything else. Photographs cost €20 and are sent within seventy-two hours, a GoPro is €30, changing your date is €50, and sitting in the same list is a "Mandatory Coverage Agreement (€30)" — a charge that is compulsory and is not in the price you pay GetYourGuide. GetYourGuide’s own summary of the reviews says travellers would like clearer upfront information about the on-site insurance and the paid photos, and at least one reviewer paid the €20 and never received the pictures.

Budget for the extras and the arithmetic works; be surprised by them at check-in and you get the 4.2. Second, the off-road question, which this listing answers twice in opposite directions. The description says in capitals that it is a 100% on-road experience and that dirt tracks are not included, while the page’s own web address still contains the words "with off-road". Believe the capitals: seventy kilometres of sealed mountain road at up to 45 km/h, from Arona through the Corona Forestal pines to Vilaflor, Boca Tauce and about 2 100 m in the park.

The operator also states plainly what it does not reach — the summit, the crater and the cable car — which is more honest than most. Two practical warnings the listing gives and we will repeat. Seventy kilometres of thumb throttle is tiring, and they say outright that it is not for anyone with limited hand strength or endurance. And while cancellation is free up to twenty-four hours ahead, there is no refund more than fifteen minutes after your check-in time, so arrive when the voucher says. Finally, the language list runs to forty-eight entries including Greenlandic, Faroese and Esperanto. Treat it as a filled-in form rather than a promise, and confirm your language when you book.

Questions about this tour

Is the Teide quad tour worth it?

★4.4 from 656, but value scores 4.2, the lowest of the quads we review. €90 covers a quad for two, around €45 each, and then there is €30 to pay on arrival. Judge it on the total, not the headline.

What is the mandatory coverage agreement?

A €30 charge listed among the extras and described as mandatory. It is not included in the booking price, and it is the single thing reviewers most often say they were not expecting.

Is there any off-road riding?

No. The description says in capitals that this is a 100% on-road experience and that dirt tracks are not included. The page’s own web address still says off-road, which is where the confusion comes from.

Do photos cost extra?

Yes, €20, sent within seventy-two hours. Keep your booking reference: one reviewer reports paying and not receiving them.

Is the price per person?

No, per quad, up to two people. A quad carries a driver and a passenger with a combined weight limit of 180 kg, and the driver change between you is free.

What licence do I need?

A full physical Category B licence. Digital licences, provisional and temporary ones, photographs and copies are all refused. If you have held it less than a year, say so at check-in.

Is it physically hard?

Seventy kilometres on a thumb throttle, and the operator says itself that it is not recommended for anyone with limited hand strength or endurance. That is a fair warning rather than a disclaimer.

Does it go to the top of Teide?

No. It reaches about 2 100 m inside the national park, and the listing states clearly that the summit, the crater and the cable car are not part of it.

What happens if I am late?

There is no refund more than fifteen minutes after your check-in time. Cancellation is free up to twenty-four hours before, but on the day the window is very short.

Do they really speak forty-eight languages?

The listing claims them, Greenlandic and Esperanto included. Take the two or three big ones seriously and confirm anything else when you book.
